European issues in short

One of the points of this year edition of Etiuda&Anima is a series of European short-length cinema. The viewers came take part in five screenings from different parts of our continent. Festival organizers offer us a specific section of the problems faced by Europeans, even if they’re not the only movie heroes.

During the five days of the festival we would like to invite you to a series of short films realized by very talented directors from different European countries, including Poland. Most of the works are productions that were presented at prestigious international festivals ( Toronto International Film Festival and San Sebastian Film Festival).

Movies of Romanian and Bulgarian authors deserve a particular attention. In “Finnish cow” by Romanian director Gheorghe Predy we can observe an unusual and above all a touching friendship between the farmer and his cow. Dedication, care and responsibility for another creature with the help of beautiful and slow shots show how might the relationship between a man and defenseless animal look like.

Another type of experience suggests us “Chaos” by Belgian author , Sébastian Petit, who makes us stop for a moment, leave everything, cut off from family and friends. In today’s world oriented to success and possession, a need for brake and loneliness sometimes can reach us.

Spaniards offer us , in humorous and sometimes absurd pictures, the opportunity to do a break and carefree laughter. But before the superficial humor, often hide serious problems. “The Serious Comedy” (dir. Lander Camarero) author wants to pay attention through laughter to the problem faced by Iraqis, namely: How they are being seen as a nation be the rest of the world.

Meanwhile the Swiss authors offer us a moment of reflection over the issue of raising children. They ask questions how should look contemporary model of education. Is it between parents and offspring, or a stranger has the right to interfere in someone else’s family life? This topics are moved by two movies: Jenny Hasse and “Discipline” by Christopher M. Saber.

European in the short-length feature is a section designed for all interested in European story, documentary and animation. In shorts: we recommend to anyone.
