“Dregs” (dir. Kordian Kądziela) is the Winner of Golden Dinosaur, “Oh, Mother!” (dir. Paulina Ziółkowska) is the Winner of Golden Jabberwocky and “Impossible Figures and Other Stories II” (dir. Marta Pajek) is the Winner of Golden Żmij!
ETIUDA Competition
In ETIUDA competition took part 32 students’ movies from 13 countries, selected from 1000 send. Jury (Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz – Chairwoman, Bodo Kox, Emi Buchwald, Tayfun Dalkılıç, Štepán Altrichter) honoured Golden Dinosaur and money award of 15 000 PLN movie “Dregs” (dir. Kordian Kądziela) because “Film dealing with the subject of loneliness in a concise manner with the use of comic means”. Silver Dinosaur went to “Beautiful Figure” (dir. Hajni Kis) for “the creation of a strong character of the female protagonist and the masterly acting”. Bronze Dinosaur was awarded to movie “ATTAK” (dir. Ruben Meier) for “the ironic clash of the world of violence with the world of media and Internet communication”.
Jury of ETIUDA awards also prize of Special Golden Dragon for movie school, which sent the best set of movies for festival. This year for quality of presented movies were honoured Nederlandse Filmacademie. Jury members decided to give honour diplomas to films: “Our Own” (dir. Malu Janssen, Nederlandse Filmacademie), „In Love with Cinema” (dir. Ascar Nurakunuulu, Kırgızistan-Turkiye Manas Universitesi), „My Memorial Day” (dir. Daniella Meroz, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem). The Great Underestimated, Award of the Artistic Director Bogusław Zmudziński, went to “Symbiophony” (dir. Eugeniusz Pankov).
Students’ jury also announced its verdict – Monika Szydłowska, Luiza Wesołowska, Wojciech Świątek awarded short movie „ATTAK” (dir. Ruben Meirer). In their turn representatives of International Federation of Movie Discussion Clubs (Konrad Domaszewski, Gunter Lange, Tariq Porter) gave Don Kichot award to „Millimeterle” (dir. Pascal Reinmann) and the special mention to “Dregs” (dir. Kordian Kądziela). The audience award winner is short movie “Dog Meat” (dir. Ksenia Tischenko).
Award for the best cinematography for the students from the countries of the Visegrad Group (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) in the form of in-kind contribution of 5 000 PLN funded by Heliograf company went to “Beautiful Figure” (dir. Hajni Kis).
ANIMA Competition
In the ANIMA competition 69 movies from 30 countries were rivalising (to selection came as much as 1433 movies), made by both students and already awarded creators. By decision of jury composed of: Piotr Dumała (Chairman), Theodore Ushev, Lucija Mrzljak, Gunnar Strøm, Andrea Martignoni, winner of competition and Golden Jabberwocky and 15 000 PLN became a movie “Oh, Mother!” (dir. Paulina Ziółkowska) for “its minimalistic charm, inventive composition of the frame and significant message”. Silver Jabberwocky went to the animation “Hedgehog’s Home” (dir. Eva Cvijanovic) for “technically perfect and brave interpretation of a timeless story”. Bronze Jabberwocky went to „A Photo of Me” (dir. Dennis Tupicoff) for “balanced craftsmanship in storytelling”.
Special Golden Jabberwocky and 2000 PLN for best student animated short movie was presented to “A Love Letter to the One I Made Up”, (dir. Rachel Gutgarts). Honour distinctions went to films: „The Junction – Chilly Gonzales & Peaches” (dir. Patrick Doyon), „Notes on Monstropedia” (dir. Kōji Yamamura), „Rabid’s Blood” (dir. Sarina Nihei), Sog (dir. Jonathan Schwenk), „9 Ways to Draw a Person” (dir. Sasha Svirsky). The Great Underestimated went to “Nothing Happens” (dir. Michelle and Uri Kranot).
Students’ jury (Michalina Mosurek, Katarzyna Kuca, Sandra Pasławska) awarded “Negative Space” by Max Porter and Ru Kuwahata, audience gave a prize to a film “Delicatessen” (dir. Fengling Chen).
ANIMA.PL Competition
And in the ANIMA.PL competition 43 movies from Poland were rivalising (to selection came as much as 100 movies). By decision of jury composed of: Jerzy Kucia (Chairman), Andrzej Orzechowski, Piotr Młodożeniec, Bernard Genin, Hubert Sielecki, winner of competition and Golden Żmij and 5 000 PLN became a movie “Impossible Figures and Other Stories II” (dir. Marta Pajek). Silver Żmij went to the animation “Strange Case” (dir. Zbigniew Czapla). Bronze Żmij went to “Mr. Miniscule and the Whale” (dir. Andrzej Gosieniecki).
Special Golden Żmij and 2000 PLN for best student animated short movie was presented to “Schroedinger’s Dog” (dir. Natalia Krawczuk).
Honour distinctions went to: Anna Beata Barańska for „Forsaken Forest”, Piotr Kabat for „Super Film”, Izabela Plucińska for „Evening”. The Great Underestimated went to “Z as in Puzzle” (dir. Michał and Kuba Socha).
ASIFA Poland Award and Students Jury Award (in composition: Kaja Sulima, Marzena Pitek, Anna Waćkowska) went to Piotr Kabat for „Super Film”. Audience gave a prize to a film “Oh Jesus” (dir. Betina Bożek).
