On Thursday, the audience of the 24th IFF Etiuda&Anima will have the chance to explore the secrets of works by G\u00e9za M. T\u00f3th, a Hungarian animation author, nominated for the Academy Award for his film \u201cMaestro<\/strong>\u201d.<\/strong>

\u201cAnimated film directors\u2019 self-portraits\u201d is a section that allows the public to observe the film making process. They say that voyeurism gives us the most pleasure when the object we\u2019re observing is unavailable for the voyeur. Even though it may be the case, our guests will certainly not agree with this statement because they can take pleasure not only from the mere observing of the animation masters but also from the direct contact with the master him- or herself.<\/p>\n

G\u00e9za M. T\u00f3th is a master in his field. His \u201esubtle, almost sandy animations about freedom\u201d \u2013 \u201eIcar\u201d\u00a0<\/em>(1998), \u201eErgo\u201d\u00a0<\/em>(2008), his educating works targeted at younger audiences \u2013 \u201eBerry and\u00a0Dolly\u201d (2013) as well as his expressional, stylistically varied adaptations of \u00a0well-known works, such as \u201eThe Miraculous Mandarin\u201d (2006) are some of his best works. When talking about T\u00f3th it is also impossible not to mention his \u201eincredibilities\u201d: animations with a mystery and a message [\u201eMama\u201d (2009), \u201eMaestro\u201d (2005)]. The films of T\u00f3th\u2019s are truly diversified.<\/p>\n

The question is... how does he do it? Maybe from up-close the public will finally be able to unveil the very secret of his amazingly varied works.<\/p>\n
