Musical events are an important part of the Etiuda&Anima festival. During this year's edition, we invite you to the screenings of musical documents by Tony Palmer, a British filmmaker, who will personally present his films dedicated to the icons of contemporary music, such as Jimi Hendrix, Leonard Cohen, The Beatles and Pink Floyd, to the Cracovian audience.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony Palmer\u2019s vast filmography of over one hundred films ranges from early works with The Beatles, Cream, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa (200 Motels<\/em>), to the famous portraits with and about Walton, Britten, Stravinsky, Maria Callas, Andr\u00e9 Previn, John Osborne, Leonard Cohen (Bird on a Wire<\/em>), Margot Fonteyn, Ren\u00e9e Fleming and Menuhin, as well as feature films such as Testimony<\/em>, starring Ben Kingsley as Shostakovich.<\/p>\n

We will screen three of Tony Palmer's films at the festival:<\/p>\n

\u201eBird on a Wire\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Considered lost for a long time, the film was restored from 296 film canisters found after many years in one of Hollywood\u2019s warehouses. It presents Leonard Cohen, the legendary poet and singer on tour in 1972 promoting his great album \u201dSongs of Love and Hate\u201d. On November 7,\u00a0a year has passed since the death of the artist. \"Bird on a Wire\" will be thus an occasion to commemorate this outstanding musician.<\/p>\n

\u201eThe Beatles and War World II<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

Tony Plamer\u2019s latest, pacifistic music film is an unusually daring project. Collect a group of all the most famous artist from the 1970s, such as Elton John, Tina Turner, The Four Seasons, Bee Gees, Bryan Ferry, Rod Stewart and make them sing the covers of the Beatles most famous songs.<\/p>\n
