For the first time in history of Etiuda&Anima IFF Polish animated short movies are going to compete in its own separate category \u2013 Anima.Pl contest. Anima.Pl is going to be an attempt to summarize the last two years of cinematic art and a permanent item in the Festival\u2019s programme.<\/strong>

\nThe jury has examined over a hundred applications of which 43 movies qualified to the competition. The contestants are arthouse films, including some well known and award-winning directors like Zbigniew Czapla, Izabela Pluci\u0144ska, Marta Pajek, Wiola Sowa and Micha\u0142 Socha, as well as student-made movies from four academic centers: Krakow, Poznan, Lodz and Warsaw and movies for children, that finally are coming back not only in higher quantity but also in constantly improving quality. What is interesting, movies for children have recently attracted Polish animation personalities, including Marek Skrobecki, Andrzej Gosieniecki, Natalia Bro\u017cy\u0144ska, Robert Tur\u0142o, Kamil Polak and Joanna Jasi\u0144ska-Koronkiewicz.<\/p>\n

The Anima.Pl contest is characterised by a very neat and artistically perfect visual side of animations that is deeply rooted in our national tradition. This, in particular, is the area where our animated movies can surely compete internationally. The award in the contest will be the Slavic Dragon: gold, silver, bronze and a special one for student-made animations. The statue was designed by Barbara Zgoda.<\/p>\n
