The latest live-action film by Piotr Duma\u0142a, a renowned artistic animation director, is at once intriguing and disturbing. \"Ederly\" received the Golden Claw Award in the Visions Apart Competition at Gdynia Film Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify;\"><b>Piotr Duma\u0142a<\/b> \u2013 a highly regarded and known worldwide author of animations has taken his place behind the camera to make a feature film for the second time. After <em>The Forest (Las)<\/em>, made in 2009, in 2015 he created <em>Ederly<\/em>. Not giving up the idea of making animations this time (among others <em>Hippopotamuses \/ Hipopotamy<\/em>, 2014) the artist embarked on the new course of his original artistic work.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12091\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ederly1-1.jpg\" alt=\"ederly1\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ederly1-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Ederly1-1-600x337.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify;\">As Duma\u0142a himself claims, his inspiration to make <em>Ederly <\/em>was his childhood dream. Some influence can be also tracked down to magic realism of the Latin American literature, especially in the works by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Julio Cortazar, who were carefully read by the artist some years ago. The title EDERLY is a city existing beyond time, on the border between reality and dream. It may seem that it only exists to let the protagonist \u2013 S\u0142ow \u2013 enter it at some point in time. The main character \u2013 like the author himself \u2013 is a fine arts conservator who enters this strange place to renovate the works of art in the local church. He spends the nights in a neighbouring house, where he is taken for the hosts\u2019 child gone missing years ago. Nobody knows why it will be easier for him to play the imposed role that to defend his own identity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify;\"><em>Ederly<\/em>, fitting into the artist\u2019s output to date, described as surreal and associated by some critics with <em>The Tenant <\/em>by Roman Pola\u0144ski and <em>Eraserhead <\/em>by David Lynch, won the Golden Claw Award (ex aequo with Karolina Bregu\u0142a\u2019s film <em>Office for Monument Construction<\/em>) in the Visions Apart competition at this year\u2019s Film Festival in Gdynia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify;\"><strong><em>Ederly<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\ndir.: Piotr Duma\u0142a, Poland 2016, 87 min.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify;\"><strong>27th November (Sunday), 4.00 PM <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Kij\u00f3w Centrum \u2013 Large Room <\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ederly is a mysterious place where everything can happen and nothing may be for real.
