His colleagues consider him a real oracle and a pillar of art in New York.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\">This is what our this year's special guest, Signe Baumane, says about him:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\"><em>I don\u2019t know any independent NYC animator who hasn\u2019t looked at Bill and, at least once in their life, said, \u201cThat looks easy, I can do it.\u201d\u00a0 (\u2026) No one else can do what Bill does (he is unique) but thanks to his example and our aspirations to be like him we have a lot of independent animated films made in New York.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11418 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Bill-Plympton1.jpg\" alt=\"bill-plympton1\" width=\"406\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Bill-Plympton1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Bill-Plympton1-600x661.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 406px) 100vw, 406px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\">Bill Plympton is an animator, graphic designer, cartoonist and filmmaker. In 1987, he was nominated for the Academy Award for his animated short \u201cYour Face\u201d. He has created over 40 animated short films and six animated features. He has also published a comic book \u201cThe Sleazy Cartoons of Bill Plympton\u201d.\u00a0 He lives in New York.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\">He was born in 1946 in Portland, Oregon. At the age of 14, he sent Disney some of his cartoons and offered up his services as animator. They wrote back and told him that he was too young, but his drawings showed promise. After graduating from high school, he moved to New York and started working as illustrator, cartoonist and layout designer in magazines. His works have been published in such titles as: <em>The New York Times<\/em>, <em>Vogue<\/em>, <em>House Beautiful<\/em>, <em>Penthouse<\/em>, <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> and <em>Glamour<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11419 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hitler2.jpg\" alt=\"hitler2\" width=\"440\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hitler2.jpg 900w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hitler2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hitler2-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hitler2-600x600.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\">During this year's edition of the festival, we will watch three of Bill Plympton's works:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cHitler's Folly\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 a mockument; a satirical reimagining of the life and dreams of the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. The film explores Hitler\u2019s unfulfilled animation career, involving creating a Disneyland-like place called Nazi-land.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cCo<\/strong><strong>p Dog\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Plympton's latest short animation; a continuation of the series \u201cGuard Dog\u201d, \u201cGuide Dog\u201d, \u201cHot Dog\u201d and \u201cHorn Dog\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cThe Loneliest Stoplight\u201d <\/strong>\u2013 a short animation taking part in this year's ANIMA Competition. Voiced by Patton Oswalt, the film depicts the life and times of a neglected stoplight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Cop Dog<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>Hitler's Folly<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>27th November (Sunday), 6:00 pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Kij\u00f3w Centrum \u2013 Main Room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>The Lo<\/em><\/strong><strong>neliest Stoplight<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>IV screening of the ANIMA Competition<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>24th November (Thursday), 7:15 pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ma\u0142opolska Garden of Arts (MOS) \u2013 Main Room<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bill Plympton is a legendary figure of American independent animation.
