IFF Etiuda&amp;Anima, viewers will have the chance to meet the greatest personalities of contemporary artistic animation. The guests of this year's edition are: Micha\u00ebl Dudok de Wit \u2013 an Oscar-winning perfectionist of artful minimalism, Georges Schwizgebel \u2013 a virtuoso of shape and colour, Andreas Hykade \u2013 a master of simplicity and lightness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\"><strong>\u201cSelf-Portraits of Animation Authors<\/strong><strong>\u201d <\/strong>are one of the most anticipated events of each of the festival's editions. In these interactive performances, artists meet the audience, talk about their work and reveal the secrets of their techniques.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:15px; line-height:20px; text-align:center;\" id=\"1\"><strong>Micha\u00ebl Dudok de Wit for the first time in Poland at Etiuda&amp;Anima<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11362\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Dudok2.jpg\" alt=\"dudok2\" width=\"900\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Dudok2.jpg 900w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Dudok2-600x281.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">We are happy that we will be the first in Poland to host this exquisite artist.\u00a0 Micha\u00ebl Dudok de Wit will be the guest of the first meeting in the series of <strong>\u201cSelf-Portraits of Animation Authors\u201d<\/strong>. Born in Netherlands, he is, in the first place, an acclaimed animated film director, but also a lecturer, commerials creator and children books illustrator. In 1994, he was nominated for the Academy Award for his animated short film \u201cThe Monk and the Fish\u201d and six years later, he won an Oscar for the Best Animated Short Film with his \u201cFather and Daughter\u201d (2000). \u201cFather and Daughter\u201d was also awarded with BAFTA and Grand Prix at Annecy. Moreover, the famous Studio Ghibli liked the film so much that they, for the first time in their history, offered collaboration to the foreign filmmaker. The effect of this cooperation was the first full-lenght animated film in de Wit's career \u2013 \u201cThe Red Turtle\u201d (2016).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">The meeting with Micha\u00ebl Dudok de Wit will be accompanied by the screenings of his films: \u201cThe Red Turtle\u201d, \u201cFather and Daughter\u201d, \u201cThe Aroma of Tea\u201d (2006) \u2013 an experimental film painted entirely with tea and \u201cTom Sweep\u201d (1992), one of the early works of the artist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\"><strong>Self-Portraits of Animation Authors<\/strong><strong> I \u2013 Micha\u00ebl Dudok de Wit<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>25th November (Friday), 5:00 pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Kij\u00f3w Centrum \u2013 Main Room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:15px; line-height:20px; text-align:center\" id=\"2\"><strong>Andreas Hykade<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">Our second self-portraitist is Andreas Hykade. Born in Bavaria, Germany, he is the director of animated films such as \u201cThe Country Trilogy\u201d, consisting of \u201cWe Lived in Grass\u201d (1995), \u201cRing of Fire\u201d (2000) and \u201cThe Runt\u201d (2006), as well as \u201cLove &amp; Theft\u201d (2010) and \u201cNuggets\u201d (2015). At present, he is working on his first full-length animated film \u2013 \u201cAlt\u00f6tting\u201d. Hykade is also known for his music videos for Italian DJ Gigi d\u00b4Agostino and German band Die Toten Hosen.\u00a0 He won many awards in animation and his works were shown in numerous retrospectives, i. a. in Museum of Modern Art in New York.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">During the meeting with Andreas Hykade we will watch the following films:\u00a0 \u201cWe Lived in Grass\u201d,\u00a0 \u201cRing of Fire\u201d, \u201cThe Runt\u201d, \u201cNuggets\u201d, \u201cLove &amp; Theft\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11363\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hykade3.jpg\" alt=\"hykade3\" width=\"660\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hykade3.jpg 660w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hykade3-600x405.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">Hykade also fulfills himself as an academic lecturer \u2013 he has been performing the role of a director of the Institute of Animation at the Filmakademie Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg in Germany since 2015 and has been teaching animation at Harvard University in USA since 2008. He conducts workshops and masterclasses as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">At 23. IFF Etiuda&amp;Anima, Andreas Hykade will receive the Special Golden Dinosaur which is awarded to an outstanding artist turned pedagogue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\"><strong>Self-Portraits of Animation Authors<\/strong><strong> II \u2013 Andreas Hykade<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>26th November (Saturday), 5:30 pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Kij\u00f3w Centrum \u2013 Main Room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:15px; line-height:20px; text-align:center\" id=\"3\"><strong>Georges Schwizgebel <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">Our third guest will be Georges Schwizgebel from Switzerland. Georges Schwizgebel is among the biggest names in contemporary animation. This well-rounded author of 18 short films has seen his works pick up prizes at Cannes, Annecy, Zagreb, Hiroshima, Stuttgart, Ottawa and Espinho. Two of his films, \u201c78 R.P.M.\u201d (1985) and \u201cThe Ride to the Abyss\u201d (1992), rank among the hundred most influential animated films on a list published by the Festival d\u2019Annecy in 2006.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11365\" src=\"http:\/\/etiudaandanima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Schwizgebel1.jpg\" alt=\"schwizgebel1\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Schwizgebel1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/fundacja.etiudaandanima.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Schwizgebel1-600x337.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:13px; line-height:20px; text-align:justify\">Though he first used rotoscoping (\u201cPerspectives\u201d, 1975: \u201cOff-side\u201d<em>, <\/em>1977), Schwizgebel later traded in this tool for a freer approach marked by the gestural application of colour and the frequent use of geometric shapes (\u201cFugue\u201d<em>, <\/em>1998; \u201cThe Young Girl and the Clouds\u201d<em>,<\/em> 2000).
